If you like blackened fish, you will love this blackened tuna recipe with Cajun mustard. It is an easy recipe to cook and is ready in 20 minutes.
Fish is low-fat plus it is a good quality protein, filled with vitamins like riboflavin, which aids the body in the metabolism of amino acids, fatty acids, and carbohydrates and Vitamin D. Fish is also rich in calcium and phosphorus and minerals, such as iron, zinc, potassium, iodine and magnesium, plus Omega-3 fatty acids
Blackened Tuna Bites Recipe with Cajun Mustard
Blackened Tuna Recipe with Cajun Mustard
Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes
Ready In: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh tuna steaks, 1 inch thick.
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over high heat.
Generously coat the tuna with Cajun seasoning.
When oil is nearly smoking, place steaks in pan.
Cook on one side for 3 to 4 minutes, or until blackened.
Turn steaks, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or to desired doneness.
Cajun Mustard:
Ingredients to just mix together:
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 tablespoons spicy mustard
- 1 juice of lemon
- 2 tablespoons horseradish (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika

There are many recipes for different recipe for blackened fish. It is a unique taste and really easy to cook. I would encourage you to try it if you haven't. We use the burner on our outside grill sometimes to cook blackened meat as sometime there is smoke due to cooking the fish so fast on a high temperature. It truly is delicious.
Grilled Tuna with Honey-Mustard Marinade
This is an easy tuna recipe that I thought I would add to the others. You serve this grilled tuna with rice or crumble it on a tossed salad.
Ingredients:
- 1 to 1 1/2 pounds tuna medallions or steaks
Marinade:
- 2 tablespoons dijon honey mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar or white vinegar
Directions:
About 1 to 2 hours before grilling, place tuna in a glass bowl.
Combine marinade ingredient.
Pour over tuna and turn to make sure all pieces are well coated.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until it's time to grill.
Spray a clean grill or grilling container with non-stick cooking spray.
Grill over hot coals for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until nicely charred on the outside and still a bit pink in the middle.
Yield: 3-4 servings

Bob would probably love this - I had cajun blackened salmon once in Seattle on the street during a festival and thought I was-a-gonna-die - way too spicy for me but he and my sons love that stuff! Great recipe and we love tuna. We get frozen at Trader Joe's and grill it so this would be perfect (for him anyhow).....
