Mullah Mohammed Omar Wanted Dead or Alive

Mullah Mohammed Omar who has been the secretive head of the Afghanistan’s Taliban movement and on the most wanted list for months is being held secretly under house arrest by the Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI) since March 27th. He is being held in “Community Care” which is a type of institution, not a jail. Why would the ISI take down one of their own? Rumors have been floating around for weeks now. Finally, this information was quietly confirmed just ten days ago and took the Defense Department by surprise and neither the State Department nor the CIA knew..

This man’s sanctuary regime sheltered Osama bin-Laden as it prepared for the 9/11/01 attack on the U.S. The Rewards for Justice Program has had a standing offer of “up to 10 million dollars” for information resulting in his capture or confirmed death because he is a continued threat to the United States and its allies. Now, thanks to the ISI, Mullah Omar may be a key factor in Peace Talks trumpeted by Obama and Karzai, leader of the Afghanistan government, at their joint White House press conference. Neither side is speaking about Mullah Omar, but only talking about the “Consultative Peace Jirga” that begins in Kabul on May 29th. They want an Afghanistan led peace process that will negotiate peace among warring parties and the country’s neighbors. The neighbors are Pakistan and Iran. Karzai announced he wants to negotiate with thousands of Taliban that are not ideologically oriented or in other words not part of Al Qaeda or some other terrorist network. It is believed by some that ISI wants to be running the show and that is why they are holding Mullah Omar as a pawn.

Warring Talibans

How could you possibly tell warring factions from non-warring Taliban people and in addition, are there really peaceful Taliban people that aren’t spies? I remember reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, an excellent book, which clearly explained the turmoil of Afghanistan when the Taliban took over. Maybe some of that book was fiction but it was certainly an outstanding book and made you see how a country could be changed by evil against the will of the people.

Peace Talks Karzai and Neighbors

Obama states that the peace talks will include those who have a “respect for the Afghan constitution, rule of law, human rights, so long as they are willing to renounce violence and ties to Al Qaeda and other extremist networks.” So, the U.S. will support this process of broad representation apparently on face value from across all of Afghan society, taking into account their concerns.

These talks do not take into account the role the ISI intends to play to Afghanistan’s future, which is the part being played by the long time ally, Mullah Omar, or the fact that there is almost a total lack of intelligence of what is really happening on the ground at the Afghan-Pak border. No one was warned about the NYC Times Square bomber! Secretary Clinton made an indictment of Pakistan’s lack of cooperation with the U.S. and stated she believed that Pakistan knows where Osama bin-Laden and Mullah Omar are. So does Clinton not know about Mullah's location? Many people seem to know exactly where he is being held, so it shouldn’t be news to Clinton. Maybe she is not in the Obama loop,

Gee, doesn’t this peace talk just sound perfect, but wait a minute don’t we have thousands of soldiers on the ground trying to protect these people? This is happening at the same time that Iran and Pakistan are considered neighbors and therefore, part of the process. The ISI has their own agenda. It is expected by some that before the Peace Talks that they will call for an immediate “Vietnam style” cease fire and demand to grant Mullah Omar (Osama’s closest ally) have a safe haven in Saudi Arabia. I can’t even print what I would like to say about that plan or I would be thrown off of Hubpages. Our mens lives are at stake here.

The frustrating part of this is the outcome should be simple and immediate with regard to Mullah Omar. There should be no doubt about what happens next. There is nothing to discuss, no deals to be made, no spin or negotiations; but this scumbag should be turned over to us immediately. This man is an unlawful enemy combatant and needs to be held by the U.S. for trial by a military tribunal. We are at WAR! Why haven’t we heard about this through our news media; or why hasn’t a statement been made by the White House? Is it the same old story? Let’s not say the word terrorist. Let’s not even attempt to get this man that has been hunted for such a long period of time. Are we just going to ignore the fact that Pakistan is holding this high ranking terrorist, second only to bin-Laden? Is Obama totally inept? Well, I guess we know the answer to that question.

Peace Talks - Karsai and Obama

Do you thing the Peace Talks will help bring peace to Afghanistan?

  • I think they might help the situation.
  • Not even a remote chance.
  • I don't know.
  • I think things will become worse.

I did a bit of checking about this very subject. I was going to write a hub, but you did a fine job of laying out the facts here. Thanks for an informative article.

Obama said the talks would include those that have a respect for the Afghan Constitution; how about including those that have a respect for the U.S. Constitution! That of course would eliminate Obama from participating in the talks!

The U.S. will support this process of broad representation apparently on face value; HERTE WE GO AGAIN; WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO TRUST BUT VERIFY!

If he is stupid enough to believe anyone in the Taliban would renounce violence then his gullibility has reached an all time high!

As far as Hillary not knowing where Omar is; it’s the same scenario as way back when when forces tried several times to offer Osama Bin Laden to her husband. In their case ignorance is truly bliss!

Thank you for all these information which I found very interesting. These people never stop fighting, no matter what reason. I hope they do a ''''peace treaty'''' hand over to that 'President' and get the boys out of it and home. It is a waste of time, money and especially life. I have read at the beginning and height of the war that the French had Bin Laden right in front of them and America would not give the go ahead. The problem or root of the matter is that they have the oil and they hold us at ransom. Unless the West turns and fully produce electrical cars, put solar panels on houses and so on, in other words break away from oil, it will go on. Bring the boys home and make them protect the borders of their homeland. Also, Pamela, make no mistake, while all the western countries scream about all these lot, they quietly selling big arms to them round the back. Its been going on ever since the war and terrorism started. The Saudis are the biggest byers because they have got so much money. I always said that Bin Laden is in Saudi Arabia.

Tom, I read something on Breitbart first, then I checked several other websites searching for information until I felt I had enough good information. There was a lot of info out there. Thanks for the comment.

Sheri, Thanks for your comments.

Patirot, Here we go again is exactly what I thought. Thanks for your comments.

Hello, Thanks for your comments. I am ready for the boys to come home and let them guard the border. I think you are right about the arms being sold and they do have power because of the oil. It will take time and money to totally get away from oil. I think they are going to have to get oil or natural gas from the states up north like the Dakotas, Minnesota, etc. in the meantime.

Benjamin Disraeli once said in describing his political opponent: "(He) has not a single redeeming defect."

That statement seems to sum up the qualities of our questionable leader.

I haven't even heard about this on Fox news yet, so it's very confusing to try to understand what's going on. Nothing good, that's for sure, and not in the best interest of America.

Sheila, That's what is so strange about this situation. It have been kept a secret until 10 days ago and they still aren't talking about it on the news. I guess it is more of Obama's tricks.

Habee, Thank you for your comment.

I'm of the idea that the word "peace" does not have a direct translation in any of these countries languages. As for making deals with anyone?

I think we're well past deals.

I have the opinion that we speak different languages and yet have the same opionion of each other neither of us wavering on that... Peace with them, MEH I don't think so it's posing. Great Debate Topic. Peace :)

Every time I hear about Obama conducting peace talks I cringe, for the simple fact, he has poor skills when it comes to charactor judging,..just look at the people he has surrounded himself over the years. Karsai is a piece of sh*t and should never be trusted !!! And I'm with you,.. Mullah Omar should be released back into our custody and delt with accordingly (Which I wont say what either, cuz I like it hear at hubpages too) My concern is our Troops,..Summer is coming and with that comes more battles and greater risks. Thanks for writing this, it is very appreciated !!!

Springboard, I think you are right. We are pass deals and thanks for your comments.

Katiem, I don't think there will be peace as Afghanistan has never known peace. Thanks for your comments.

Army Inf. Mom, My concern is our troops too. I wish they would just bring them home as we can't trust the Afghan troops really and Pakistan is a pit of snakes it seems. Overall it is a bad situation. Obama will not be able to solve this problem. Thanks for your comments.

Pamela, what a great hub very discriptive and direct. Being a Vet I can see that are country still has not awaken to the hazards of these conflicts that are taking place in the Middle East, and how the so called peace talks that I remember were going on in Paris during the Vietnam conflict. It took fifty thousand of us to die before we finally conceded and pulled out of Vietnam, I hate that saying what comes around, etc. I look forward to reading many more of your hubs, I am fairly new to hubs so its taking me awhile.

No matter the war or who the president is, there are always 'peace talks'. I believe that there are things involved which we either know nothing about or we know half truths. It's difficult, when dealing with people who believe that killing others and themselves is what their god wants them to do. Hope we all continue to pray for peace. Rated up.

Pam, I've taken a spell of not reading, so I'm late to this hub. You have done well here. I hear what Namvetrich is saying loud and clear but in the words of Don McClean, they were not listening then, they did not know how, perhaps they never will....... Peace 50
