Al Quaeda Leader Osama Bin Laden Dead
73Hunt for Al Quada Leader Finally Over
The world is a safer place now as the United States Navy Seals, at the direction of President Obama, killed Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan on May 2, 2011. He is considered the mastermind of the 9/11 attack on the twin towers in NYC which killed 3000 people. This is worst attack the United States has ever suffered. Osama Bin Laden had been on the FBI Ten Most Wanted List since 1998.
Osama Bin Laden
Islamabad, Pakistan
FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive List
Osama Bin Laden was initially placed on the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive list because of his connection with the August 7, 1998, bombing of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. Over 200 people were killed in these attacks. The award reached $25 million for information leading to his capture, but obviously money was not enough to bring down this war lord. He also had numerous aliases, Usama Bin Muhammad Bin Ladin, Shaykh Usama Bin Ladin, the Prince, the Emir, Abu Abadallah, Mujahid Shaykh, Hajj and the Director.

Search for Osama Bin Laden
The CIA became suspicious of a three story house located in Islamabad, north of the Pakistan capital and supposedly owned by two men. The world is a safer place tonight as the United States Navy Seals killed Osama Bin Laden in his home in Pakistan. The house is reported to have a 15’ to 18’ high fence with bobbed wire along the top and several cameras. Osama was living there with his youngest of four wives, a child and several men, guards and possibly two couriers
There were no phone or cable lines connected to the house. Osama realized back in 1995, that the CIA could eavesdrop on all of his communications. After that time he wrote out messages and used couriers to distribute these messages to other members of his organization, which may have been one of the CIA clues to his location. The town's people supposedly didn’t know Osama lived there, although the home was much larger than others in the city of 100,000 people. Another clue was the residents of the home burned all their garbage instead on having it picked up like other city residents.
When the troops landed they spoke in Urdu to the people in surrounding homes telling them to stay inside and keep their lights off. The fire fight only lasted for forty-five minutes. One of the two helicopters was either hit by enemy fire or had mechanical problems, as the Navy Seals destroyed it before they left with Osama’s body and his computers. The body was taken back to Afghanistan and identified as Osama bin Laden, then buried at sea. I can only surmise the quick burial happened to try and avoid a violent reaction by Muslim radicals, and it is the Muslim tradition to bury a body within 24 hours of death. We will certainly need to be on high alert for a period of time.
Twin Towers Attacked
Our troops spent hundreds of hours combing the mountains along the Pakistan and Afghanistan border searching for Osama. The relief and joy of Osama’s demise has been expressed across our country, particularly at ground zero where approximately 1000-2000 people gathered to try and seek some closure to the horror of 9/11.
President Obama made a speech last night telling us of the operation details, which took months to plan. Other leaders around the world also made statements expressing joy that this manhunt finally came to an end. World leaders stated they felt the world was now a safer place.
The exception is the leader of Hamas, as he condemned the killing. This is hardly a surprise.
New Leader of Al Quaeda?
Al Quaeda Future
It is a relief that Osama is finally gone, however, Al Quaeda decentralized many years ago. Al Quaeda has suffered the loss of a leader; it doesn’t mean their mission has changed.
The surgeon from Egypt, Ayman al-Zawahri, may succeed Osama, as he has been the most public face we have seen with many messages denouncing the United States and its allies.

In Summary
There are many other terrorist organizations of concern, such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood. We can only conclude the fight is not over.
May 2nd proved the United States will hunt a terrorist that attacks our country down, no matter how long it takes.

Now I'm dancing on the streets!
A Great Victory for our nation. Hoooah!
Do I feel safer? Hardly. I don't feel safe at all. I wish it was the end of terror for our country, but as we know, it's probably going to open a floodgate of attacks in retaliation. It's a great day only because some of the family members of those who were killed on 9/11 may feel vindicated, but their loved ones will never be brought back and that is the saddest part of all.
Pamela you are certainly right. While I am as happy as anybody to see OBL eliminated now we have to be more aware then ever because no way Al Queda is just going to wilt and go away.
Pamela99, thank you for a great hub, full of info and details. This will be one of those moments we remember where we were when we heard it, forever. I got the email this morning saying you had written a hub, but I didn't read it then as I was going to write one too. Again, thank you, and God Bless America and America's military!
Bin Laden, shot dead in the head!;)
Justice was served, but no one is safer. What I'm wondering is what kind of person will take his place? Will this person be even more brutal, more determined to destroy, more willing to take risks? We'll soon know.
Hi Pamela, I watched the reporting of all this live last night and through the early morning hours. Wouldn't you know the coward would be using a woman as a human shield!
On a lighter note; this evil man is dead and is surely wondering where all his virgins are?????????? "Oh" he says, they must be right beyond that next acre of fire and brimstone.
I just read the article on CNN news online and think they probably did get the right perpetrator. However, I read a book about him and he had between 70 to 100s of brothers and sisters. How do they know it was the right person?
He certainly gave the press lots of pictures of himself to think about. I agree the funeral was rather rapid; but I guess it puts an end to the search.
Hum, I guess the woman OBL tried to hide behind needed to be a bit taller. Rummor has it the ole boy caught one between the running lights.
OBL chapter closed, begs the question, what is next?
Thanks for your insights Pamela99. Mike
Yes, I feel safer now. Not!
True, the terrorist snake still lives, but with its head cut off. We have to remember that while Bin Laden was a bastard, he was also an accomplished leader, and now, that leadership is dead.
This may be the beginning of the end.
Pamela99 you are absolutly right, OBL is dead. That is a good thing that will hopefully give closure to all those who have been greeving the past ten plus long years.
Best wishes to all. Mike
Wow...thanks for the read.
I am Glad they didn't contact Pakistan before moving in.
Osama is gone but I hope people will still be vigilant. He has a lot of followers and many of these people live next to us (in UK, US etc) but we don't know it. They seem to live normal lives and fit it with society until they commit a terrorist act and we begin to think "Oh they seemed just like a normal family."
My thoughts today are with the families and friends of those killed by Al Qaeda as it would have opened up fresh wounds. (bitter-sweet though)
Best Wishes.
Great Hub, Pamela99. It´s very informative for me since I was not able to catch up the news. We should be more vigilant now. Here in Germany were people arrested for planning a bomb attack somewhere not far from our place. Thanks God they are caught before anything bad happened. Thanks for sharing.
I will link this to my hub, as you share information I do not! Thanks for stopping by. I hope the computers they took from the site reveal a great deal of strategy, leaders and even upcoming terrorist activities useful to the CIA!
I'm relieved he is gone. It took so long to find the man who did so much to destroy our world of security as we once knew it. Fear took over after 9-11 as well as so much evil hovering and invading the world over. I do have new fears of retaliation by his followers or those like him, but at least we can rest a bit easier knowing he has been taken out of the equation. : ) Good hub! Informative and helpful.
I read here a few facts I missed on the news. Thanks for sharing. I can only hope Osama had a good look at our Navy Seals and realized his time had come.
Hope this means good for the whole world. More peaceful and safer? or there might be plans of revenge from his followers?
Dear Pamela. Thank you sweetheart for your hub. God Bless You.
A great summary Pam.
I think it is good that those who are responsible for overseeing our safety has been successful in obliterating one more terrorist. But, as most of us know, one go, another come; one die, another is born. Such is life.
Of course, we are also aware that God defines murder as any thought or feeling of deep seated resentment or malice against another person. In other words as Jesus amplifies in Matthew 5:21-26, commiting murder means more then just the taking of lives, it also means having an angry and unforgiving attitude towards others. Perceivng life through God's morality, I see many terrorists lurking in our midst.
Voted up!
Peace and joy in Him,
Forever His
They say he's dead, but his body was buried at sea before the public could get a look. Do you really believe what the government is saying? Maybe he is, but I sure would've liked to see it for myself.
There is one less terrorist on the planet now but we still must be vigilant. Terrorism is still alive and well and we cannot let our guard down. Thanks for reminding us, Pamela.
Yay, yay, yay--I'm glad you wrote this hub. Everyone is rejoicing over the news and this hub wouldn't be more timely. I just couldn't fathom the fact that OBL has the gall and the conscience to live in the lap of luxiry while telling his followers to sacrifice their lives for his twisted cause.Nicely done and rated up.
I'm wondering how he could live there and the people not be aware of his presense. The world is safer with one less terrorist..I agree that we must not let our guard down..Many more are out there. Thank you for the informative hub.
Pamela - I don't think the world is a safer place now myself. That cock roach had become a fugitive with him having a $25 million dollar bounty on his head - dead or alive.
For the past ten years, he has had to primarily focus on his own survival. His protégées are already jockeying for position. It's best not to forget that terrorism is all about terror.
Hi Pamela-No matter what, the news of OBL being found and killed is a good day for America. Of course we have other terrorists to worry about, but right now, I want to celebrate this.
Pamela, I just heard on the news last night that Ayman al-Zawahri may take over leading Al Quada. You mentioned that too. Good job at writing a complete review.
Unfortunately, I think we will need to have our guard up more than ever as it is likely there will be retaliation. However, I am glad that the mission was carried out in a competent, precise manner without "collateral damage" of innocents.
Excellent article! You gave us the information we needed. It is pithy and well written. Thank you! God Bless America.
Pamela
For me OBL's death while a good thing, generates more questions than it answered.
It created the perfect conspiracy theory because it was reported poorly. My focus is on the conspiracy, and I wrote a hub on it.
I have also said that I am looking the gift horse in the mouth here.
my opinion
I never knew that one could be buried in the sea,i only knew that mafias deposit dead bodies in the sea for fishes but wow Buried at sea...Osama gone but the war is not yet over so we all have to be vigilant.
Pamela, you have a mistake in the title of your third paragraph. You put Obama instead of Osama.
As a Muslim, I know it hard to accept this news. But I disagree with any types of terrorist. As a Muslim I really shame if my brother killed others. I hope we can live in peace and stop to killed each others. Muslim, Christian, Catholic, Buddha, Hindu have right to live in this world. Thank you very much. ~prasetio
A very good recap of both the kill story and the background leading up to the action. I think you have one typo in the paragraph that starts "When the troops landed... You mention the identification of the body and the troops returning it to Pakistan...I think you meant Afghanistan. Just trying to help out! Good work, Pam, thanks for sharing it. WB
Hey Pamela-Great recap of what happened. I'm glad someone has addressed this here-it is certainly important and historic news.
This is a great acheivement for the world, however i dont know what the future will hold!
I in no way condone what he did, but find it curisous why as far as I am aware, no one has asked why an educated man would want to 'hurt' democracy?
'We are right, he is evil, and we are a democracy, so he must die'
What was this one man's message that the army of the most powerful continent on the planet spent 10 years tracking him down?
In England we celebrate 'Guy Fawkes night' every one sets light to the fuses on as many explosives as they can blowing them sky high every year, to commemorate the capture of a man who tried to blow up parliament, or are we commemorating the fact he tried?
I hate to break the news, but revenge is definitely not sweet.
Living up to America's bully image, this is just like any other revenge story - it'll end in tears for more people, the longer you perpetuate violence.
The song about Frankie and Johnny was meant to be a lesson to us all !
Just hoping for peace and a better economy. I hate war (no matter what good it does) - so many loved ones are lost because of it (and that's not good). v/r

Pamela,
To Usama, good riddance to bad rubbish!!!!!!!!!!
